An easy to make cake.

Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ c. cake flour (sifted)
  • ½ c. sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp. cream of tartar
  • ½ tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ½ c. shortening
  • ¾ c. Original Molasses
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. flavoring
  • ½ c. milk

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Sift first five ingredients into mixing bowl. Add shortening, molasses, eggs and flavoring. Mix until all flour is dampened.
  3. Beat 2 minutes by hand or electric beater (low speed).
  4. Add milk. Beat 2 more minutes.
  5. Bake 25 minutes or until done in 2 well-greased, lightly floured, round 8-inch layer-cake pans.
  6. Cool; frost as desired.
