GingerBread

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup Grandma's® Original Molasses
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 cup hot water

Directions

Cream shortening with sugar. Blend in molasses. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda and spices. Add to creamed mixture alternately with hot water. Turn into a greased 9x9x2 inch baking pan. Bake in 350F oven for 40 minutes. Cool.
